Weather moves north or East

Yesterday was a really intense day to go through for everyone here on the Northern California coast. Trees coming down, sirens blaring and a lot of people staying home not to get into accidents on a Saturday. It would have been much worse on the freeways had it been a work day. Now all the wind and weather is moving either north or Eastwards or both. So, I can see remnants of the storm on the weather radar with a lot of rain and snow especially in Idaho with other smaller remnants now as far away as western Texas and Canada. Very explosive storm here because of intense gusts of winds and rain going sideways and trees coming down. The second power outage I walked along my street to see which houses still had power. None did. I finally walked over to a more main thoroughfare and saw red lights on a transformer which meant something was wrong. The nearest people with power were more than a block away in several directions but I couldn't find the tree that fell that knocked out our power. When I wanted to go home I realized i had to walk backwards because the rain was coming down sideways into my back. So, I walked backwards not to have my face stinging and drenched most of the way back home. I keep an all weather rubber jacket for times like this on hand with a rubber hood. This way the only thing that gets drenched is my pants and shoes. I have pants too that are rubberized but that isn't useful most of the time because it's not bad enough unless I have to stay outside in the rain for an hour or more working on something in an emergency. You can find things like this at Orchard Supply (OSH).
