regarding Flash Flood watch in San Francisco Bay area

These is the 2nd really big storm of the season to come off the ocean this way at high speed. The previous one (a week or two ago) I put all deck chairs in the yard off the porch so they wouldn't blow through windows and sliding glass doors. I knew we likely might get another one because i tis an El Nino year when storms get more intense and drop more rain and hail. So, I left about 8 or 10 deck chairs out in the yard away from the back yard deck and away from windows and sliding doors for everything to remain intact. Now I'm in southern California where the storm appears (so far) to be less intense at least so far. But, we are glad we drove from Santa Barbara to Orange County through the Traffic last afternoon and night to avoid even more problems. So, I was happy to see the first drizzles of the storm last night in Orange county at about 8 pm last night even though clouds had preceded the storm for a day or two so we knew it was going to be a big one from the prelude to it off the ocean.

In the last storm most of the chairs had blown down in the north on the coast and trees had come down in two places within 2 blocks of our house there and had turned off power for some people by bringing down power lines and phone lines and cable etc. One 4 way intersection was blocked a few days near us by fallen power lines and fallen large trees last time. We have house sitters taking care of our house this time since we are away for awhile.

Also, flooding where I live near San Francisco is far enough from the coast so it won't be subject to tidal waves (tsunamis or flooding) it is on enough of a slope and above 100 feet in altitude so it isn't subject to flash flooding problems. However, we do have a spring on our land this time of year and so we had to construct a French drain around our house to prevent the pier block construction house from becoming a lake under our house and to divert water around the house rather than under the house with a french drain.
