Upward Mobility

Many people think upward mobility and college are intertwined. To some degree that is true.

However, in the real world upward mobility has more to do with just being an opportunist rather than just a submissive worker until you die.

Upward mobility is realizing that you are captain of your own ship and that your loyalty has to be towards yourself, your family, your area and your nation rather than to any one company that you might work for. Loyalty to the corporation or company you work for often will just end with you getting a gold watch, going home and dying within a few years because you can't adjust to retired life.

Whereas upward mobility when applied to business opportunities, health, family relations, world travel etc. tends to keep people alive longer and longer through innovative ideas shared among all upwardly mobile people and people who want to become upwardly mobile.

So, what are the most important qualities of an upwardly mobile person. They might not be what you think.

For example, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were upwardly mobile before they became Billionaires. They looked at opportunities and neither finished college even though both got into good schools. They prioritized learning over a degree and education of whatever interested them over a college degree. By learning more about what interested them and applying knowlege they became billionaires.

Does this happen to everyone? No. Of course not.

However, there are certain qualities all upwardly mobile people have. First they are full of ideas. Second, they are willing when necessary to work 100 or more hours a week to make their ideas work when necessary. And Third, they think for themselves. They aren't usually asking other people what they should think about anything. They will consult with others in how to do something they are doing better sometimes. But, basically, they recognize when they have an idea that might work and they move forward with that idea and don't take "No!" for an answer.

So, ideas, recognizing good opportunities and being willing to work a lot to get those ideas off the ground is what all upwardly mobile people have in common.
