Modern Marvels on the History Channel: "Edison Tech"

This episode of Modern Marvels on the History Channel was first aired I believe in 2005.  I have a season pass on my Tivo to record automatically all the modern marvels to see if I have time to watch them. Then I eliminate them (delete them) as I can watch them or not over time.

This particular episode starts with men taking cameras to the summit of Mt. Everest on the border of Nepal and Tibet which runs along the peaks there of the Himalayas. Though I never climbed Mt. Everest I have been in the Himalayas within about 30 to 50 miles of there at about 10,000 feet in Helambu district where my family and I trekked 50 miles or so for a week with backpacks and hiked up from about 5000 feet to 10,000 feet in elevations over suspension bridges mostly without any electricity unless it was run by paddle wheel generators on little hotels run on rivers there in 1986 in late February and March of that year. My friend told me a story of why I didn't take a bus into Tibet then with my family when he came across another bus at about 20,000 to 22,000 feet in the pass of the road over from Nepal into Tibet towards Lhasa. The bus was loaded with dead people who succumbed to the altitude when their bus broke down there at that time. It was a sort of horrific experience for him and made me choose not to make this journey by bus. Another friend had taken a plane in her 70s (that went to our church) and when the plane landed she died within about 10 to 15 minutes from the altitude when she landed there which is about 12,000 feet in altitude there in Lhasa.

Anyway, this episode on Thomas Edison is really interesting. I remember reading a good book on Edison's life when I was about 9 years old and doing a book report on it. Later, I read a book my mother and father recommended on the life of Nicola Tesla as well. Both were very interesting Charactors in the development of electricity in the U.S. and the whole world.
