God is Love?

I've always been a little leery of the word love because it means so many different things to so many different people.

So, I guess I would rather say:

God is Kindness

or

God is Compassion

Because saying God is love could mean:

God just wants to fuck me and use me.

So, this is the problem I have with:

God is Love

For example,  there are few people I have met that I couldn't say if I wanted to "I love you" but that's just me. But, most people might take that wrong in various ways so I don't say that to them. But I might say this to good friends or relatives that I have known for years or that I have become close to within the last 10 years.

Because what I'm really saying is "I want you to be Happy", "I want you to have a good life", "I want you to have a long and happy life".

I'm not usually saying, "I want to go to bed with you because I'm 68 after all now and not 20 something and single".

So, "God is Love" doesn't really work for me because there are just so many different meanings for love at this point and unless people are clear about what "Love" means you or I might not want anything to do with that.

So, to me, God is my friend and infinitely helpful and kind. God is eternal without beginning or end. And because God is eternal and I am his friend likely I am eternal too.

So, this is how I like to see the God of the Universe (and maybe his wife too).
