How does one protect themselves from a Technological Singularity?

First of all you cannot really protect yourself fully from a Singularity anymore than you could protect yourself from oncoming cars if you were standing on a freeway with no way to get off or out of the way. However, likely the best protection would be to understand exactly what a Singularity would be like:
