Maybe. I'm not certain it will be this year but it is likely an event similar to 1862 we will see some year in the future (unless Global Climate change makes something else happen) (which could be worse or different).
I think preparing (given what we have seen so far) for something like 1862 again with your family might be important. (What is your plan to go to safe ground "usually higher stable ground" than where you presently are?)
The states most affected by the 1862 Ark Flooding were California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah. Other states were indirectly affected but California and Oregon and Arizona were hit the worst I believe in the last Ark Storm in 1862.
So, preparing for how you are going to keep your family alive might be important in case the Atmospheric Rivers don't stop from south of Hawaii this year. Property is much less important than how you are going to keep you families alive if the atmospheric rivers continue into march or April non-Stop which is possible. Just keep checking what is happening one day at a time where you live and you should be fine. You will intuitively know what to do.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
