Hearing stories of people with no heat or power for 4 days or more. People going to country clubs that have generators to take showers with no heat but maybe fireplaces in their homes and no lights unless they have gasoline or diesel generators. We stayed in Santa Barbara because power has been out at least 4 days where we live in Northern California. This is really hard especially for retired people that don't do well without heat or maybe they are sick with one of the viruses going around now. So, there are a lot of mini to major disasters in people's lives around California, Oregon and Washington right now from Atmospheric river storms and more snow than anyone has seen for a long time too.
For example, I have skied on 40 feet of snow on Mt. Shasta but not for probably 20 years now. But, this could be another 40 feet of snow kind of year by March or April or even May this year.
Friends are dealing with all kinds of snow in Mt. Shasta for example, and it's snowing a little more now every day up there too.
But, at least Interstate 5 is open once again.
So, we are very grateful to have another place to stay in Santa Barbara on a hill away from major flood plains even though this morning it was raining so hard that I was worried about erosion even though flood control systems seem to be working well so far even in heavy heavy ongoing rains. But, slowly but surely many areas flood systems throughout California are slowly breaking down area by area as rain and flooding becomes worse many places. So, more breakdowns likely will occur as more and more rain arrives different places.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
