Because it is immensely profitable (in the millions) for him to take this stand because of all the bribes he will get from companies around the world for doing this.
and 2nd he won't live to see the worst of Climate change because he has at most with his diet and other self destructive behavior maybe 10 years left to live.
Since he only cares about the money he makes he could care less what climate change does to everyone else on earth.
His actions say loudly to the world: "You can all just die! I could care less!"
