I don't know what to make of Yemen

(CNN) -- A 15-year-old Yemeni girl was burned to death by her father for "communicating with her fiance," according to Yemen's Interior Ministry. The father, a 35-year-old man, was arrested Tuesday in a village in Taiz Province. The statement did not ...

Blessing in disguise: End of Saudi aid to Yemen

Saudi aid to Yemen goes back decades, and is the bedrock of Saudi's foreign policy in that country. The Saudis have stepped in when the Yemeni government has been in desperate need, most recently paying the salaries of civil servants, and supplying ...

When I search for stories of Yemen I'm constantly confused by what I find. I try to find someone to root for and over and over again I find only can root for the people of Yemen.

I think this is why many people feel the way I do. For example, the 15 year old girl above burned to death by her father for communicating with her fiancee. What kind of craziness is this?

Did the father approve of this marriage or what? This just doesn't make any sense when I read things like this. Saudi Arabia's involvement also makes sense but makes the Yemen situation even more twisted as a result. So, one reason I don't usually report or quote stories from Yemen is that they read to me a lot like news from an insane asylum where nothing makes very much sense at all. I can't rout for anyone in particular but the people themselves and I can't really find out what is going on with them either.

So, I find Yemen 100 times more confusing than Syria and yet, we aren't killing people with drones in Syria but we are in Yemen. Also, Osama Bin Laden was a Yemeni raised in Saudi Arabia to a wealthy father who was a building contractor there. So, this makes Yemen even more confusing for a lot of people on earth to make any sense of it at all either.
