Diversity Gap in U.S Schools: More than 82% Teachers are White
U.S. Public schools are mostly attended by minorities but in these schools, only 1 teacher out of 5 is nonwhite.
According to the National Center for
Education Statistics, in 2012, around 3.3 million teachers were
providing their services in American public elementary and secondary
schools. Their statistics showed that there were 82% white, 8% Hispanic,
7% black and 2% Asian teachers.
Studies from the National Education
Association and the Center for American Progress are diverting attention
towards this gap. Advocates say political will is the requirement of
time to change these numbers. Many states have initiated numerous
programs that will help in increasing the number of minority teachers.
In public schools, number of minority
students has been increased in the last few years. In 1993, only
31% minority students went to public school and in 2003, their number
was increased to 41%. Experts believe that students trust those teachers
more with whom they can relate to.

I think there are many more reasons for this than meet the eye. First, if someone is a minority that somehow finds their way out of poverty, they likely would be much less likely to be teachers because it would be hard to pay off their student loans. So, public school teachers tend to be from white middle class to upper class homes whose parents more likely would help them pay off their student loans or they would have money to pay for college outright. Even President Obama and Michelle were paying off their student loans for college and law degrees until they were into their 40s. And they likely couldn't have done that as public school teachers because public schools don't pay enough to have a decent life and to pay off student loans too without putting yourself somewhat back into poverty if that is where you came from in the first place.
The main problem with public schools is that their main goal is not teaching students it is maintaining tenure for teachers through their unions. Therefore, if you want your child to have a good education you MUST home school them yourselves or put them in a good private school if you want them to be successful.
You have to get them away from bullies and knives and guns and drugs. Unless you do that there might be no hope at all for your kids. This is awful to say but it is actually true. I have been raising kids non-stop since 1974 and my youngest was accepted to all 7 colleges she applied to. But, in order to do that it costs about 25,000 a year to a private school to be sure of that. And you might have to pay tutors too. A good education isn't cheap. But, you can home school your kids and if you have college or a college education this is 500% better or more than any public school in the U.S.
