Whenever a larger state tries to impose it's will on a smaller state it often becomes 'an ungovernable mess'. Why is this? It is because only the people of that smaller state can really decide in any useful way what it is they want. So, when an artificial order is imposed "Like in Syria, Yemen, Libya, and now Eastern Ukraine you are going to have a mess. Part of the problem in places like Syria, Libya, and Yemen is that the people there have NEVER known democracy or that type of freedom. So, they really have nothing to compare it to unless they have been to places like Europe, India or the U.S.
Though I understand Putin's frustration here, it is simply going to make people's lives in Eastern Ukraine Hell for 20 to 50 years because of what he is doing there. The only way to make sense of it if you lived there might be to move out. However, if you own big farms or businesses there you might stick it out even if you died trying to protect what you have spent your whole life building for your family to help carry it through to the next century (whether you are successful or not).
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
