Likely servers were shut down to conserve power in the heat

As soon as it started to cool down a little (it is now the normal daytime temperature for where I am even though it is now 10pm approximately PDT) the Internet started working once again. So, my thought is that the Servers all over California were shut down during the day to keep the elderly and infirm alive by keeping their air conditioning working in the heat today all over California and surrounding regions. They likely were able to save a great deal of electricity by shutting down the Internet Backbone for California, the U.S. and other parts of the world.

This temperature jolt is the strongest so far this year for people to get used to all at once here in California and the western states.
