These three things tend to go together because the world has not dealt with overpopulation or Carbon dioxide increasing or the Magnetosphere degrading or many other ecological things.
But, the biggest single reason we are having a problem now on earth is the amount of people here at one time. So, the likelihood is people competing for resources (like Russia is now) are going to kill millions of people worldwide.
It isn't really like the Cold War now because it is a new problem entirely. Then it was more about nationalism because we had so many uneducated people on earth.
Now, it is simply not about politics really at all, it is completely competition for enough food to survive and millions likely will be either beat to death, machine gunned, or starve to death. Right now it is not happening in the U.S.
However, what will start to happen as refugees come here that are psychologically messed up with various kinds of PTSD it will make the U.S. much less safe than it has been. For example, 9 million Syrians have now been displaced inside and outside of Syria. Though most likely will remain the the middle east (alive or dead) some will travel to Europe and the U.S.
Now, the same is true of those who survive the Ukraine. Imagine you are living there and this is going on. If you have any money and you are in Eastern Ukraine you have already left and gone somewhere else if you are smart.
And since as of right now there isn't enough will or force mustered to stop what Russia is doing (for the present at least) it looks a lot like when Hitler started taking countries during World War II sort of once again.
The likely result (if you study history) is that millions more people will die directly and indirectly because of what Putin is doing. And in the meantime the western powers need to develop a strategy (some useful strategy) to combat what is happening in Ukraine or the Putin cancer will spread to Eastern Europe and eventually to western Europe itself and then the EU will be no more.
