Acting president announces move in response to occupation of power centres by pro-Russian gunmen

Ukrainian authorities reinstated conscription in a bid to deal with the deteriorating security situation in the country.
Oleksandr Turchynov, the acting president, reintroduced compulsory military service in a decree signed on Thursday, a day after he admitted that security forces have effectively lost control of two eastern regions to a pro-Russian rebellion.
The decree cited “the rising force of armed pro-Russian units and the taking of public administration buildings... which threaten territorial integrity”.
Former President Viktor Yanukovych abolished conscription in 2013, as part of a reform aimed at switching to a professional military.
The announcement came after pro-Russian demonstrators in Donetsk seized control of the city’s prosecutor’s office, in the latest of nearly daily occupations of government buildings in the country’s east.
Rioters fought battles with police after a traditional May Day march in the city turned violent.
The interim government in Kiev has accused Russia of using its intelligence services to ferment the armed uprising that has taken effective control of parts of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
Earlier on Thursday Ukrainian authorities detained a Russian diplomat and ordered him to leave the country on suspicion of espionage.

The Russian naval attache, who was not named, had been engaged in activities “not in accordance with his diplomatic status,” the Ukrainian foreign ministry said in a statement.
In another development, the International Monetary Fund on Thursday approved a £10 billion loan to Kiev in a bid to shore up the country’s creaking economy.
Meanwhile Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, appealed to Vladimir Putin to held release foreign hostages being held by separatists in the flashpoint town of Slavyansk.
Mrs Merkel was facing embarrassment on Thursday following reports that her own party’s foreign policy expert attended a much criticised party in St Petersburg with Vladimir Putin.
Gerhard Schroeder, the former German chancellor, celebrated his 70th birthday with President Vladimir Putin[http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/ukraine/10795042/Gerhard-Schroeders-birthday-party-with-Vladimir-Putin.html]at St Petersburg’s Jussapov Palace on Monday night.
German media reports said Philipp Missfelder, the chief foreign policy expert for Mrs Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Party was also a guest at the controversial party held by a subsidiary of the Russian energy giant, Gazprom.
Pro-Russian militia are still holding seven OSCE military observers who were seized as they tried to enter the city on Friday. They are amongst several Ukrainian prisoners also being held.

I'm sort of worried about young Ukrainians in this because they will be fighting mostly Russian Veteran Mercenaries and their leaders are KGB (FSB) trained by Moscow which is their (CIA). So, 18 year old high school graduates are no match for basically veteran mercenaries led by FSB operatives with experience and advanced psychological warfare. Even though most of the Pro-Russians are basically thugs like you would find in the Russian Mafiya it is important not to underestimate the ruthlessness of people trained in psychological warfare and using baseball bats and clubs to intimidate people.

This is not warfare this is very advanced asymmetric warfare that very few people understand over most of the world. The object of this kind of warfare is not to kill but to intimidate, make it impossible for local governments to operate and to physically destroy businesses so people can't make money to feed themselves so they have to leave the area  to even eat everywhere they go.

This is exactly what they old KGB would have done to destroy democracy and capitalism to set up a totalitarian Communist infrastructure which is likely what they are presently doing in Eastern Ukraine by Putin's orders. In other words they are preparing Ukraine for the end of Democracy and Capitalism.
