An atmospheric river that’s set up over the Pacific Ocean is taking aim at the Bay Area and will deliver several super soakers starting Thursday, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook lasting into Monday, during which time heavy rain will dump from the North Bay south to the Monterey Bay area.
More than 2 inches of rain is on track to come down in parts of the Bay Area while higher elevations in the North Bay mountains could see a foot of rain by early next week.
Thursday’s storm will first hit the North Bay in the morning before moving into San Francisco and the East Bay where there will be widespread rain through Friday.

The heavy rain, coupled with gusty winds, will batter trees and likely bring down branches and knock out power around the region.
