Neanderthals have the gene that allows humans to speak languages?

This is something my youngest daughter shared with me just now. I looked it up and this is what I found:

begin quote from:

Researchers studying Neanderthal genes discovered that they shared the same version of a gene FOXP2 with modern humans. FOXP2 is the only gene known so far that plays a key role in language.

What percentage of Neanderthal Genes do most Europeans have?

about 1 to 2 percent
This information is generally reported as a percentage that suggests how much DNA an individual has inherited from these ancestors. The percentage of Neanderthal DNA in modern humans is zero or close to zero in people from African populations, and is about 1 to 2 percent in people of European or Asian background.Jun 23, 2022
