Idea for not getting locked out of your car or truck

If your Fob (the thing without keys that unlocks your door on some cars) is always kept in your purse or pocket you will ALWAYS be able to open your car even if you leave the keys in it. However, the exception to this might be (as I found out yesterday) if you leave the key in the ignition your FOB might not work. However, if you just leave your keys in the car or truck somewhere and it locks itself (like many cars and trucks do today, you won't be locked out (as long as your battery doesn't go dead, the capacitor in the FOB stops working or if you leave the keys in the car or truck's ignition.

However, with self locking cars and trucks I have found that often within 30 seconds to a minute if you leave the car unattended the car or truck will lock itself. It won't turn on the burglar alarm because usually it only does that with either the FOB or the Built in Fob in your keys is some cars like Lexus or others.

One of the advantages to doing this is:

1. less weight to carry in your pocket or purse
2. less likely to be locked out by your car away from your keys inside it.
3. less weight on the ignition key system from the weight of too many keys and Fobs on it.
4. If you have multiple cars you can leave one key in each car hidden for use and have multiple Fobs
in your pocket or Purse.
and

5. Fobs don't usually hurt in your pocket like keys can sort of like little open knives sometimes if you move wrongly or are walking fast or jogging and I suppose this might be true for women with a purse as well. When you reach into your purse for your keys and snag a nail or poke your finger on the keys trying to find them it would eliminate this problem too.

The down side of this is mainly if you leave your windows open in your car and leave the key in plain sight you car could be stolen. So make sure you don't leave your keys in plain sight or just take your keys with you if you plan to leave your windows open with it parked.
