A young impractical person often thinks about what they WANT in life all the time.
But, this isn't really the road to survival long term. Those that survive past 30 tend to think about "What do I (and my children) need to survive?"
Because this is the only important question in the end. If people don't ask this question either they or their children often don't survive.
If you are a young person maybe the most important question might be: "Does what I WANT interfere with my personal survival or the survival of my children?"
IF you are honest with yourself then you and your children will survive. If not, it is possible that neither you or your children will survive your lives.
As a young person I wanted a convertible Porsche. But, I was too tall to fit in the Porsche without my head sticking above the windshield. Also, what I could afford to buy was a piece of junk. But, I COULD afford a brand new Chevrolet Camaro. So, my Dad convinced me this was what I could afford to buy that would last and last. He was right. We kept that Camaro in my family for 10 years until my son was 4 years old.
As a young person I WANTED many different women I met. Looking back now most of them were just too dangerous for me to survive. Somehow I knew that enough at the time to avoid the most dangerous ones who would have literally been the end of me.
It's not that I didn't date or even marry dangerous women. It's just I only dated or married the ones I could survive. So, in the end both my children and I have had amazing lives and have all traveled the world and still are today.
But, in the end, "What do you NEED to survive" is much more important to your survival and your children's survival than "What do you WANT?"
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
