Why is this?
Because globalization, in order to reduce pricing by those things bought online, takes jobs away worldwide from well paying jobs and moves those jobs to where people can be paid the less to do that worldwide.
The result of this is that the middle Class and poor of developed nations lose their middle Class jobs in developed nations and become more poor. the Once middle Class revolts like now in the U.S. through Sanders and Trump (which are two different solutions to the same problem of Globalization) until isolationism politically and economically becomes the direct result caused by those who have lost their jobs in places like here in the U.S. and Europe.
Europe might survive globalization better than the U.S. which really has no safety net beyond Unemployment compensation now. Because Welfare doesn't really exist (the way it did) before the Clinton Administration. So, as a direct result of globalization you have masses of homeless people because they can't find jobs because those jobs have all been shipped overseas.
So, you have people with college degrees managing Burger Kings or McDonalds or Taco Bell and the rest with lesser education working for them or homeless a lot.
So, the solution countries likely are going towards is Political and Business isolation in order to take care of their middle class and poor especially here in the U.S. where there are no useful long term catch nets and people just go homeless instead when they can't find meaningful work. By shutting out foreign imports the Middle Class and poor can survive without millions of people demonstrating with bloody revolutions of the masses as a direct result or political revolutions which are a precursor to violent revolutions here in the U.S. if the people who vote for Trump and Sanders are not seriously listened to now and into the future.
