This appears to be much more historically accurate than Braveheart in 1995 by the way. The most accurate historical thing in Braveheart was that he was drawn and quartered and pieces of his body were brought to all corners of Scotland as a warning against further rebellion. However, that backfired back on the British as it just pissed off many Scots including King Robert the Bruce who were friends and allies of Wallace in real life.
My wife and I watched the first half of this on Netflix last night and likely will finish it this evening.
Luckily, I read the Wikipedia article on Robert the Bruce and found out that the English eventually gave back his wife and daughter to Robert the Bruce and he died of natural causes at around age 55 as the King of Scotland. One of the reasons that he was allowed to remain King of Scotland after he won the battles was that Edward Longshanks died on the way to the first battles with Robert the Bruce of old age and Longshanks son wasn't well liked as a King of England and was eventually overthrown by English nobles for someone else.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
