Did Large Asteroid hit earth?

I find what is written about the meteorite confusing. As the size in weight and diameter increases it doesn't make any sense what newspaper articles are saying. If the asteroid that hit earth from the north is 10,000 tons and 50 feet long and came from the north this doesn't make any sense. Because the object that was described as missing earth was supposed to come from the south, miss earth by 17,000 miles in a fly by and be 50 yards long. But, here is exactly the same size object coming from the north and hitting Russia? Something isn't right about this. And on top of this another smaller meteorite hit around Cuba also? Also, something 50 yards long weighing 10,000 tons would be much smaller when it hit the atmosphere just from the friction and speed it hit just like the object that hit in Russia.
