The nearness and inevitability of death.
You are going to die. It only is a matter of when. That's all.
So, when you have near death experiences if you don't have anything to hold onto but God, often THAT is the ONLY thing that keeps you alive. People who don't have this often just die of panic or alcohol or drugs. If you have never faced death for days, weeks or months like I have you likely have no reason to believe in God.
But, if you believe you could die for days, weeks months or years like I have if you don't have something to hang onto then you are just dead. I have seen this over and over again all my life. And I've now lived 70 years.
What kills most people really? Panic.
If you panic over 40 or 50 that is what kills a whole lot of people. So, you have to learn to NEVER panic over 50. That should be your rule. Otherwise you might just have a stroke or heart attack and die right there. This is how life really is.
Believing in God is one way to manage your panic. It evens everything out so you might live to 100 or more without needing alcohol or drugs as a crutch.
