If we get rid of them (ISIS) (with help from most all countries on earth now) it should be done in either secret or with drones and aircraft like Fighter jets. (at least publicly) which is what I think we are already doing.
The longstanding problems in the Middle East since the times of Mohammed make this imperitive. Shias and Sunnis have been killing each other in various skirmishes and wars ever since Mohammed passed away. So, getting into the middle of this ongoing sectarian Muslim feud between 1 1/2 billion Muslims is a really bad idea. (At least publicly).
Though all the governments in the Middle East are (on paper) opposed to ISIS which is a Sunni Terrorist Army of occupation, this shouldn't make us think that many governments there don't secretly support aspects of what ISIS is doing on one level or another.
So, the best way for not only the U.S. but also Europe to proceed is to at the very least not publicly be sending in armies to kill ISIS soldiers. Because it must be recognized that these ISIS soldiers are the children mostly of Sunnis throughout the world now. And those soldiers have brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers. And if we fight publicly other relatives who are upset about those thousands of relatives killed will want revenge on the western world.
To view ISIS as other than a movement isn't useful. Movements grow strong and then peter out.
It should be remembered that Christianity was once a movement too. To make you aware of what might come of all this in the short and long run.
So, understanding the motivations of all the different types of people and ideas joining ISIS and why is the most useful course of action now.
This movement cannot be defeated by any army anywhere. It is psychological in reality and until the reasons for the movement ebb this movement likely will increase.
So, removing the elements causing the movement like Assad and the stance of Putin and Iran are the only ways I know to cause this movement to peter out and to eventually die as a movement.
Otherwise, this movement only will continue to grow as ISIS and through other forms ongoing.
And as long as this movement continues, Shias, Christians, and all other groups but extremist Sunni are going to be murdered in an ongoing mass genocide in the wake of this movement.
Here is a quote from Time Magazine on page 33 from the March 9th Issue 2015:
This piece is called:
NO. DON'T TAKE THE BAIT BY KARL VICK
"------The Group (ISIS) after all was spawned by the occupation of Iraq. Many of it's leaders are veterans of U.S. Military prisons that turned out to double as universities for jihad. But their aim is no longer to expel the invader. Just the opposite. Now they want to lure us in. The fundamentalist narrative embraced by ISIS calls for a return of U.S. forces to Iraq, modern legionaires filling the role of "Rome" in the end time narrative the group believes it has set in motion. It's a millenialist vision as complicated as the Book of Revelation, but the U.S. role is pretty simple: show up. For anyone else seeking a logic behind the gruesome decapitations of American journalists and aid workers, there it is---provoke a reaction."
