Here are some sayings of the Buddha on a covered large unbreakable drinking glass that my wife got me.
I was thinking about the saying: "The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows".
Comment: People often worry about not doing the right thing. But, here above is the Buddha telling you (if that means anything to you) that the only failure is not being true to the best you know whatever that is.
Next Buddha Saying:
I never see what has been done, I only see what remains to be done.
comment: This is how I was raised. We weren't usually praised for anything. Our knowledge we had completed a task and survived it was supposed to be enough for us. So, pioneer style we only were taught to see what remained to be done just like all the people who survived the settling of this country. If you didn't keep your eye on what was next and instead congratulated yourself, often you were dead.
Next Buddha Saying:
The mind is everything. What you think you become.
comment: This is from the Prince of Lumbini which is interesting in itself. He was raised to become a King like his father who tried to shield him from old age or sickness. So only young and healthy people were allowed in the palace where he was raised. So, though he was shielded from old age, death and sickness until he was an adult he was also educated to become a King.
However, this shielding him was (when he found out about sickness and death) what made him become the Buddha.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
