The Siberian Methane Tundra Time Bomb

begin quote from  above article starting with "Leaking Siberian Ice"
CHERSKY, Russia – The Russian scientist shuffles across the frozen lake, scuffing aside ankle-deep snow until he finds a cluster of bubbles trapped under the ice. With a cigarette lighter in one hand and a knife in the other, he lances the ice like a blister. Methane whooshes out and bursts into a thin blue flame.

Some scientists believe the thawing of permafrost could become the epicenter of climate change. They say 1.5 trillion tons of carbon, locked inside icebound earth since the age of mammoths, is a climate time bomb waiting to explode if released into the atmosphere. end quotes.

The problem with methane is that this methane is leaking upward into the upper atmosphere at such and incredible rate now that it is preventing the formation of Ozone or O1 and instead creating water vapor H20. This is a real problem because this affects the eyesight of all creatures of earth who can't for one reason or another get out of direct sunlight during the day or into a cave or under a tree to prevent eye damage. Even humans now should wear sunglasses most places on earth just to prevent eye damage and trees and plants are also being damaged worldwide as the ozone continues to deplete. Another source of methane creating water vapor in the upper atmosphere was the Gulf Oil Spill where an unbelievable amount of methane went up into the sky from that ongoing spill for months but it still doesn't compare to he melting Siberian, Canadian and Alaskan permafrost dumping incredible amounts of methane up into the atmosphere every day most of  every year now because of Global Climate Change.
