Handgun used to shoot police officers in Ferguson?

When witnesses recounted the shooting they said the shots came from a hill far away. If this is true it could not be a handgun which is usually only accurate 10 to 20 feet at most. The length of the barrel on a gun denotes the accuracy so for example a saturday night special (a .38 pistol with almost no barrel) would have to be used within 5 to 10 feet for accuracy.

So, what this means is that if a pistol was used in reality that one might aim at a crowd a block or two away (the place where shots "4 of them came from") and if it were a pistol they were just as likely shooting at demonstrators as they were police because there would be no accuracy at all with a pistol at that distance.

So, if the bullets came from a hill a block or more away from the demonstration and officers it likely had to be some kind of hunting rifle with a scope or sniper rifle if the actual targets were the police and not the demonstrators.

These are Saturday night specials which would be the least accurate of all pistols and only good for really close range protection of between 5 to 10 feet at most with any accuracy. Such a gun is also incredibly loud because of the short barrel too. The longer the barrel the quieter the report of the gun depending upon the size of the bullet). The larger the caliber of the bullet the louder the report of the gun whether that be a pistol, a rifle or a cannon.

When I grew up it was perfectly normal to teach young men this just like it was during the early 1900s, the 1800s and before. Knowing how to use a rifle to hunt and to protect yourself from intruders and to protect your family was something every boy was taught sometime between ages 4 to 8 years of age, especially west of the Mississippi after about 1850 and before that everywhere in the U.S.

This all didn't change until the Viet Nam War when people became a lot more pacifist after 50,000 of our boys came home in caskets on airplanes on TV for the world to see and 250,000 were wounded and countless others wander our streets still as walking wounded with PTSD all over our country to this day.
