It's normal right now the last week to see people wearing face masks to breathe through outside

The Greater SF Bay Area in California now has the worst air quality on earth from the Camp Fire (at least until the rains come Wednesday). So, seeing people walking around with Face masks on has become normal for San Francisco, Sacramento, Chico and anywhere near Paradise, as well as Sacramento, Fresno, Marin County etc. However, places like Mt. Shasta California are still clear most of the time even though they had 40 days straight of smoke from about July 5th or 6th onward into September from the Carr Fire and other fires in their area.

My wife bought Winix Air purifiers in Southern California and left one in Santa Barbara and gave one to a friend with breathing issues and brought one home to northern California where we live. We now leave an air purifier on filtering the air for us in our living room during the day and then we move it into our bedroom during the night when we sleep. We now keep it running 24 hours a day so we don't have to breathe smoke particles inside our house.

Many people are getting sick in Northern California because the wind patterns are bringing it to Sacramento, Fresno, San Francisco, Marin County and Santa Cruz. So, all these places people are getting sore throats and breathing issues from all the smoke in the air. This likely is also killing some people who might not be able to afford to leave for somewhere else during these times.

Also, if you live anywhere in California you are going to need one of these eventually the way things are going as one city after another partially or fully burns down one by one over time caused by the drought (of 20 years now) or of Santana Winds (in the Fall and now winter) and from Global Climate change and the desertification of much of California during these times.
