My God Daughter and her husband were just visiting from southern California and they were telling us a story of something they had read on Craigslist online that they had been laughing about.
It was an add on Craigslist for giving away a Koala bear in Australia. It appears a man was having to give away his Koala because it had raped and then killed his wife's cat. That had been the final straw.
He said the Koala bear (obviously a male) had raped and killed the cat which then meant his wife was really upset and that was it for the Koala living with them anymore.
He said they spend most of their time either asleep or high on Eucalyptus leaves which they need to eat to survive. But, the 2 hours a day they are awake the can get very mean too. He said they will scratch with their claws and the will bite and there will be blood so you have to get used to this. And if you try to bathe them so they don't stink like many wild animals do they will bit and claw you on the way to the bath and possibly when you dry them too.
Also, my wife was asking why a Koala raped and killed a cat. I told her the koala didn't have a mate so likely it was sort of like prison rape when men or women have no mate inside prison for years at a time.
So, this is likely why Koalas are illegal to keep in the U.S. in domestic households just like a lot of domestic pets because they are just too exotic and unknown or you can't get eucalyptus leaves in most parts of the U.S. because they don't grow there like they do in California from people transplanting them here from Australia.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
